Bringing Local to Our Schools

Weld RE-5J School District is proud to announce it has received a Local Food Program grant to bring more Colorado-grown and produced foods to school cafeterias. This funding will help serve fresh produce, locally raised beef, and regionally made tortillas, enhancing both nutrition and community connections. The district plans to grow partnerships with local producers and create hands-on learning opportunities for students to understand where their food comes from.

Local beef from TurnKey Cattle Co. is already on the menu, featured in tacos, enchiladas, and more. Weld RE-5J is committed to strengthening farm-to-school ties and investing in Colorado agriculture.
