ICAP

What is ICAP?

ICAP is a multi-year, student-driven process that engages students and families in exploring academic, career, and postsecondary options. With adult support, students build the awareness, knowledge, mindsets, and skills to chart meaningful pathways toward Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR).

Each year, students update a personalized ICAP capturing goals, interests, course plans, credentials, and WBL experiences; aligned with Colorado rule 1 CCR 301-81 and the Weld RE-5J Graduate Profile, it ensures graduates leave RHS ready for college, career, and life.

How is ICAP implemented in Weld RE-5J?

ICAP grows with students. In elementary school it builds awareness—helping children name interests, strengths, and a sense of belonging at school. In middle school it shifts to exploration, connecting classes to broad career clusters and sketching an initial high-school plan with family and counselor support. By high school it becomes decision-making and demonstration: students align courses and pathways, pursue college credit and credentials, engage in work-based learning, and finalize a postsecondary plan aligned to the Graduate Profile.
