Registration and Enrollment for Students in Weld RE-5J

Every school year, families in Weld RE-5J must register/enroll students officially in our schools. Review the categories below to register or enroll students based on a new student enrollment, current student registration, or open enrollment for families not living in 5J boundaries.

Open Enrollment

 Open Enrollment is an opportunity to request that students attend a school of choice, which is outside of their assigned school attendance area based on district boundaries. Students who do not live within district boundaries, but want to attend a school in Weld RE-5J are asked to follow the Open Enrollment process.

  1. Contact the school of interest.
  2. The school will provide the Open Enrollment paperwork.
  3. Complete the paperwork and communication will proceed with staff from that school.

Weld RE-5J Open Enrollment Conditions 

  • Approval to attend a school in an area other than that of the student’s “current school” will, in effect, change the student’s “school of record” to that of the school for which school of choice is granted. 
  • My child may not return to his/her original school or any other Weld RE-5J school without once again filling out the open enrollment application during the open enrollment window for the next school year. 
  • This application is processed in accordance with Policy JFBB and JFBB-R. 
  • My Open Enrollment Application will be valid for attendance at that school throughout the grades served by the school level. Enrollment may be rescinded annually if the school’s growth in enrollment results in inadequate space, resources, or undesirable conditions develop. 
  • Transportation to and from school will not be provided for open enrollment students.
