Long Range Planning

Priority Areas Ahead

The information below includes a presentation about the Weld RE-5J Priority Areas Ahead and a feedback survey to gather community input.

In Weld RE-5J, we strive to maintain and enhance strong partnerships with our communities in order to ensure high quality experiences for all students. Long range planning helps school districts address existing needs, anticipate future needs, plan for those needs, and ultimately deliver on high-quality spaces, resources, people, and programs for student success. This requires transparency, collaboration, and prioritization in partnership with students, families, staff, business and industry, higher education, early childhood providers, health and human services, local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, civic partners, and the broader community.

The current 5J Long Range Planning (LRP) Task Force has been meeting since Winter 2024. The guiding principles for the LRP Task Force include

  • Enhance community through shared understanding, values, and trust
  • Create and support the best schools that provide opportunities for students to thrive
  • Accommodate development in efficient and equitable ways
  • Be good stewards of our assets and resources

Long Range Planning often involves Mill Levy Overrides (MLO) and Bond issues that require the support of voters to make improvements across the school district.
