At our January all-staff meeting, Assistant Superintendent Tami Kramer reminded us:
"Belonging gets students through the door, and mattering gives them a reason to stay. Let’s ensure every student feels welcome and knows they truly contribute to the strength of the classroom."

Superintendent Scott Nielsen continued:
"We are proud of the impact 5J staff has on ALL students. By maintaining high expectations and providing high support, we can keep working together to be 1% better every day—rowing in the same direction for the benefit of our students."
 

Celebrations and Observations from Fall 2025 Semester:

Staff are collaborating being vulnerable with each other

  • To maximize flexible spaces for learning
  • To gain clarity on what students should know and be able to do
  • To develop engaging, authentic learning opportunities
  • To measure collective impact and use data to make necessary adjustments to advance student learning

Teachers are piloting new courses and curriculum based on student interest. 

Staff are creating exciting new extracurricular opportunities for students based on their interests.

Staff are paying attention to where their students are and where they are going:

Students are growing faster than their peers nationwide in most grade levels of our elementary schools in both Math and Reading 

Students are demonstrating growth at Roosevelt Middle School in both Math and Reading

Students are showing growth at Roosevelt High  School in both Math and Reading

Staff are leaning into the culture of “All our students. All can and will succeed.”

Staff are committed to learning together to improve outcomes for our learners.

Family members, including many in this room, are sharing the benefits they’re seeing from our efforts and the impact it is having on our students.

All Staff Kickoff

On Tuesday, August 5th, all staff - school-based and central teams - joined together in the PAC at RHS to celebrate successes and reconnect.  Administrative teams showcased highlights and honored central departments.  

Superintendent Scott Nielsen addressed the staff about the 2025-2026 school year with focus on students and staff feeling a sense of belonging, following passion areas, attendance, celebrating strengths, and collectively launching our 5J brand promise.
